Sometimes the best Hot Wings are the ones you make at home.

In October 1964, a place in Buffalo, New York, called Anchor Bar, made a special treat for some of its loyal customers. The treat merely involved dipping chicken into a concoction of spices and then dipping them in blue cheese dressing. With that, Buffalo chicken wings began their rise to fame.
Since then, they’ve been a hot commodity at every sports bar and pizza pub in America. Even upscale restaurants and fast-food chains have tried to jump on the chicken wing bandwagon. But what if you could make chicken wings at home?
If you like to cook with chicken, it only takes a few spices and some hot sauce to make your own hot wings. It’s not as hard or complicated as you might think. In fact, you might actually find that the hot wings you make yourself are better than any you’ll be served in a restaurant.
Are Hot Wings Healthy?
While tasty, these hot wings may not align with everyone’s diet. On the bright side, since you are baking these wings rather than frying them, you avoid some of the grease that can make some wings unhealthy. Chicken wings are a good source of protein but high in fat and calories. But unless you’re on a low-fat or low-calorie diet, these hot wings can be enjoyed in moderation.

Make Sure You Marinate
While this recipe can be put together relatively quickly, it’s always better to be patient with wings. If you can, allow the wings to marinate in the mixture of spices for at least two hours, overnight if possible. Next, take the wings out of the refrigerator after they have marinated for a minimum of thirty minutes. You want the wings to get close to room temperature. Finally, make sure you fully coat every inch of the wings with the marinade to maximize the flavor!

How To Make Ahead And Store
As mentioned, it’s best to marinate the wings ahead of time. If you have leftovers, store them in the fridge in a covered container. They should last for up to 4 days. You can also flash-freeze the wings and store them in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw them overnight in the fridge.

Serving Suggestions
What goes well with hot wings? There may not be a wrong answer to this. Assuming the wings are the main course, consider a traditional Macaroni Salad as a side dish. Likewise, a creamy potato salad or perhaps a Loaded Potato Salad will work well, too. You can also try Air-Fryer Onion Rings, Apple Coleslaw, or Cornbread With Creamed Corn. Finally, don’t be afraid to include a vegetable with the meal! I recommend Cumin-Roasted Carrots or a big helping of Oven-Roasted Vegetables.
