  • Air-Fryer Omelet

The humble omelet is a go-to breakfast for me because I can fill it with leftover odds and ends in the fridge that aren’t likely to be used anywhere else. Got half a cup of sautéed mushrooms? Three cherry tomatoes? A quarter of an onion? Two bites of leftover rib eye? A slice of Swiss cheese? Congratulations; that’ll make an omelet greater than the sum of its parts.

The only troublesome part of making an omelet is having to use the stovetop. Recently, my stovetop actually broke and needed a part replaced—a terrible event for someone like me who uses the stove at least twice a day. Thankfully, I had this air-fryer omelet recipe handy. I can imagine a recipe like this one would also be appreciated by college students, who might only have an air fryer in their dorm room.

Making an omelet in the air fryer is pretty simple and requires no careful folding because the fillings are already encased in the egg mixture. The eggs turn out fluffy and perfectly seasoned with this recipe. As long as you remember to use nonstick spray on the pan, you won’t have much cleanup to do!

Is An Air-Fryer Omelet Healthy?

Omelets made in an air fryer turn out healthier than stovetop omelets in most cases because you don’t typically use much oil. This omelet recipe uses spinach and bell peppers, which are both rich in vitamins A, C, and K, and contain iron, folate, and potassium. Eggs provide lots of protein along with vitamins and minerals, while the cheese is a source of protein and calcium. If you want to reduce the fat content in your omelet, use one whole egg and four egg whites. It’ll still taste pretty good!

Finding A Pan That Fits In Your Air Fryer

If you’ve only ever used your air fryer to make frozen chicken tenders or to reheat pizza, you might not have a pan small enough to fit inside your air fryer basket. Thankfully, you can use any oven-safe pan in an air fryer, including silicone baking pans. And, to no one’s surprise, there are plenty of baking pans on the market specifically for air fryers. The thing is, not all air fryers have the same size basket, and some air fryers are larger and have more space for things like baking pans. The pan that will work for you depends on the size of your air fryer. Before you splurge on an air fryer baking pan, make sure it will fit your make and model.

I had something in my cabinet already that ended up working well for me: a small ceramic dish clearly marked as oven-safe.

How To Make Ahead And Store

In my opinion, omelets taste best when made fresh. But if you want to make this omelet ahead of time, or if you have leftovers, you can store it in the fridge in an airtight container and reheat it in the air fryer later. Just be sure to consume it within 3 days.

Serving Suggestions

As any omelet lover will tell you, you can’t go wrong with a crusty slice of toasted bread on the side. You can make this omelet part of a larger breakfast by adding a side of these delicious Easy Sweet Potato Hash Browns or the good ol’ standby of russet potato Hash Browns. You could even cut the omelet into quarters and add it in place of the egg on this incredible Breakfast Sandwich. If I’m wanting something lighter, I’ve found this Green Goddess Salad always does the trick as an omelet side.
