  • Chocolate-Covered Strawberries

In my opinion, chocolate-covered strawberries seem like a special treat. I have fond memories of enjoying them on special occasions, like dipping strawberries in a chocolate fondue fountain at a friend’s wedding. I’m sure I’m not alone, as chocolate-covered strawberries are usually on display at grocery stores for holidays. In fact, I’ve been known to enjoy a glass of champagne with chocolate-covered strawberries on Valentine’s Day and my wedding anniversary.

Thanks to this recipe, you don’t need to wait for a holiday or other special occasion to satisfy your sweet tooth. Not only are chocolate-covered strawberries delicious, but they’re incredibly easy to make. There’s something about the slight tartness of the strawberry that goes so well with the semi-sweet chocolate. And feel free to change up the chocolate with white or dark varieties if you like!

Are Chocolate-Covered Strawberries Healthy?

With only two ingredients, chocolate-covered strawberries can be considered a clean, simple snack. Strawberries are healthy fruits that are low in sugar and calories but high in antioxidants, fiber, and vitamin C. However, the semi-sweet chocolate in this recipe doesn’t add much. Semi-sweet chocolate has saturated fat and a significant amount of sugar. You can avoid this by using dark chocolate, which is known for having some antioxidants and essential minerals. You’ll want to be sure you choose dark chocolate with at least 70 percent cocoa content to get the most benefit.

The Perfect Dip

The trickiest part of this recipe is attaining the right temperature for the chocolate. You don’t want the chocolate to be boiling hot because it will affect the overall taste. That temperature may also ruin the strawberry. That’s why you need to melt your chocolate in 30-second intervals to achieve a smooth consistency. If you want to get really specific, melting your chocolate between 88 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit is the sweet spot. When you hit this temperature, your chocolate remains fluid enough for dipping but thick enough to harden.

How Do I Store Leftovers?

Chocolate-covered strawberries have a short shelf life. If you need to store them, line a container with parchment paper and then lay out the strawberries. They will last in the fridge for up to 2 days. After that, the chocolate will become soggy due to the moisture in the strawberries.

Serving Suggestions

I think the best dishes to serve with chocolate-covered strawberries are more desserts! For example, you may like these Chocolate-Covered Raspberries and Chocolate-Covered Cherries if you’re making a large batch of chocolate. On the other hand, you can also create a strawberry dessert assortment with these Cheesecake-Stuffed Strawberries and Strawberry Cobbler.

Make sure you have something delicious to drink with this dessert. I love the fresh flavors in this Strawberry Matcha Latte next to the chocolate-covered strawberries. For a special date night, I like to make a batch of Sparkling Holiday Champagne Sangria.
