Turkey Burgers In The Oven are every bit as tasty as the grilled version made with beef. You’ll love this succulent, hearty delight!

I’ll admit, it took me many years to warm up to turkey burgers. I’m kind of a beef hamburger fanatic, and the only turkey I ate for years was fried turkey on Thanksgiving, so the idea of turkey burgers didn’t tempt my taste buds at all. The first turkey burger I ever had was at a friend’s house, and, unfortunately, it wasn’t the best experience. The patty was dry and lacked flavor. It wasn’t until I had a delicious bite of a friend’s turkey burger from a local restaurant that I reconsidered my opinion on the most popular of poultry patties.
All that is to say, it’s easy to make a bad turkey burger. Ground turkey isn’t much like ground beef, so treating them the same way when making burgers is a common mistake. Thankfully, it’s also pretty easy to make a good turkey burger, and you don’t even need to light up the grill to do so.
These oven-baked turkey burgers are juicy and flavorful, thanks to the breadcrumbs, egg, and seasonings. Using the oven instead of a grill results in more even cooking overall. You’ll love every bite of these lean, succulent beauties. Simply toast up a bun and top your burger with your favorite cheese and all the traditional burger toppings for a healthy alternative to beef!
Are Turkey Burgers In The Oven Healthy?
Yes, they’re leaner and less calorically dense than beef burgers. Ground turkey is high in protein and several B vitamins, plus it contains trace minerals our bodies need to function. The breadcrumbs used in this recipe are whole-wheat, which adds some fiber to the mix.
To make these burgers healthier, consider serving them on whole-wheat buns (or lettuce leaves for a low-carb version) and topping them with crisp vegetables. If you’re watching your fat intake, skip the cheese or use a low-fat option.
Cheese, Please!
Adding the right cheese to a turkey burger can really amp up the flavor. The burgers themselves are seasoned well, but I love going bold with my choice of cheese on a turkey burger to add some pizzazz. I find that cheeses with strong flavors, like aged white cheddar, Gorgonzola, Humboldt Fog, or even feta, work quite well on turkey burgers. A good ol’ slice of American cheese will do just fine, but if you’ve ever wanted to experiment with a different cheese, these burgers are perfect for that.
Simply top your burgers with the cheese during the last five minutes of baking. This way, the cheese has time to melt, and your turkey cheeseburger will be ready for a bun right out of the oven.

How To Make Ahead And Store
Once cooled, these burgers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Cooked or raw, they can also be packed into freezer-safe bags and frozen for up to 3 months. Simply thaw in the fridge overnight before (re)heating in the oven or air fryer.

Serving Suggestions
Naturally, fries are a great side dish when cooking turkey burgers. Since you’re warming up the oven anyway, consider making Baked French Fries. If you want everything to be hot and ready at the same time, crank up the air fryer and make Air-Fryer Sweet Potato Fries or Air-Fryer Potato Wedges! In addition to the obvious side of fries, I also like to serve a fresh Keto Broccoli Salad or a Green Goddess Salad with my turkey burgers.

Hello. This was a great recipe. One thing I did not do was marinate the meat and I added panko crumbs instead of bread crumbs. And I added some ranch seasoning. But my burgers were very moist. Thank you for sharing.
That’s fantastic to hear, thanks Kellea!
