Vanilla, cold brew, chocolate, and whipped cream. Need I say more?!

In the mood for a caffeinated treat? This shake is for you! Vanilla ice cream and coffee blend together to create a rich and creamy coffee milkshake – like an affogato but in drink form!
This shake is also customizable, allowing you to choose the ingredients to suit your preference. Use what you have, or what you love, and get creative with it!
I am a coffee and espresso fanatic. So much so, I have to limit myself on the number of espresso shots I have per day. No matter how bad of a day I am having, I can always count on a warm or iced espresso to brighten my day. And it’s not just the taste that hooks me, but the comfort it brings! A warm cappuccino or a chunky iced latte offers a sense of routine and stability that is soothing, and it really gives me something to look forward to each day.
I am delighted to highlight this coffee-infused milkshake, because it’s the perfect treat any day of the week – and who doesn’t want a creamy, chocolatey, and decadent dessert that also gives you a little boost of energy?

Is a Coffee Milkshake Healthy?
This coffee milkshake is not exactly healthy, but you can easily tweak the recipe for a more health-conscious version. Let’s start with the ice cream. There are so many tasty vanilla-flavored dairy-free ice creams out there. And, if you can have dairy but prefer a slightly lighter alternative, use a vanilla frozen yogurt instead.
Next up, the chocolate syrup. If you’re trying to consume less sugar, simply pass on adding this as there is enough sweetness from the ice cream already. With that said, if you want a healthier alternative but with all the sweetness, try using naturally sweet syrups like date syrup or raw maple syrup.
Lastly, opt for a lactose-free whipped cream if you’re avoiding dairy. I personally adore a good coconut-based whipped cream, and I love to add a scoop or two into my morning coffee sometimes. Look for a coconut whipped cream brand that contains no added sugar, and is made from raw coconut meat and cream for the best flavor.
Garnish & Top!
There are so many wonderful toppings to choose from that can really enhance the experience of this delicious coffee milkshake. Make a homemade whipped cream, or crumble some crispy biscotti over the top. Sprinkle with chocolate-covered coffee beans, or add an espresso shot for an extra kick!
For more nutritious toppings, try cacao nibs, chopped dates, or toasted walnuts. Sprinkle with a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, or pumpkin pie spice for added warmth and color.

How to Make Ahead and Store
I don’t recommend making this milkshake ahead of time. The ice cream melts pretty quickly, and dilutes the flavor of this shake. With that said, you can place it in the freezer to keep it cool (it may turn into ice cream if you leave it for too long) but it is best served fresh.

Serving Suggestions
Enjoy your coffee shake all on its own or pair with a crunchy cookie and serve with an indulgent dessert tray, filled with toppings for people to select as they see fit. Mine would look something like this: cherries, Strawberry Whipped Cream, Salted Chocolate Brownie Bites, Chocolate Covered Blueberries, Healthy Cookie Dough, Chocolate Hazelnut Healthy Ginger Snaps, and chocolate-covered coffee beans, with a side of Almond Butter for drizzling all over the top!
