While we all love cake, baking it from scratch can be a tedious process. That’s what makes this recipe so great—it’s incredibly convenient, so no matter how busy you are, you can easily fit it into your day. Plus, since it’s low-carb, you can enjoy every bite without a second thought! Whether your family follows a keto diet or not, everyone will love this treat just the same.

Is Easy Low-Carb Keto Mug Cake Healthy?

Compared to many regular cakes, this one has fewer calories, carbs, and sugar. While it’s not necessarily nutritious, it’s still better than store-bought options, especially if you’re on a keto diet or looking to cut back on sugar and carbs. Plus, some of the ingredients offer small health benefits of their own. For example, coconut flour is high in fiber, and unsweetened cocoa powder contains antioxidants, while monkfruit provides natural sweetness without refined sugar.

Tasty Ways To Top Your Mug Cake

This low-carb keto mug cake is totally delicious on its own, but if you want to take it up a notch, try adding a few toppings! A dollop of coconut whipped cream or light whipped topping makes a perfect finishing touch. If you’re a nut butter lover, you’ve got to try drizzling on a spoonful of peanut butter, cashew butter, or almond butter—talk about yummy goodness! Of course, you can never go wrong with fresh fruit on top. A few diced strawberries, blueberries, or even blackberries would taste absolutely divine with this cake. And last but not least? Go nuts and add some of your favorite nuts, like almond slivers or even candied walnuts.

FAQs & Tips

How Do I Store Leftovers?

You can store your mug cake in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 day. To reheat, place it in the microwave for around 30 seconds.

What Can I Use Instead Of Chocolate Chips?

If you aren’t a chocolate lover, it’s easy to switch up this recipe to suit your palate. Try peanut butter chips for a delicious peanut butter cake, or try out butterscotch chips, white chocolate chips, or caramel chips.

What Can I Use Instead Of Vanilla Extract?

Vanilla extract gives this cake a boost of flavor, but you can swap it for maple syrup or honey if necessary.

  • Transfer to a large mug (at least 14 to 16 ounces) and spread the top of the batter evenly.
  • Cook in the microwave until the top is set and any wet spots are no larger than a dime. This was about 2 mins and 30 seconds in my 1000-watt microwave. Serve and enjoy.
