There is never a wrong time to kick back and enjoy a refreshing smoothie. Lounging poolside? Smoothie time! Packing your lunch for work? A smoothie is a great idea. Stuck in loud, frustrating traffic? Who cares, you packed a smoothie! You really can’t go wrong. Plus, they’re quick and easy to make, full of flavor, and only require a simple straw to enjoy. A typical lunch for me includes a fruit smoothie, which gives me enough energy to stay productive as well as helps me hit my daily macro goals.

Why decide on one fruit to enjoy, when you can enjoy multiple blended up in a tasty fruit smoothie? Bananas, strawberries, blueberries, kiwis—any fruit you love can go into a fruit smoothie! Their ability to be customized is what makes them so much fun; you can enjoy a different fruit smoothie almost every time if you desire! It’s time to stop believing you need to go to a smoothie chain and spend a bunch of money in order to sip a delicious fruit smoothie. Whip them up from the comfort of your own home and start relishing in more affordable, scrumptious fruit smoothies.

Is This Fruit Smoothie Healthy?

Enjoying fruit as a snack is one of my favorite ways to curb my sweet tooth, especially when I’m trying to have less refined sugars. Fruit is a healthy way to get the carbohydrates your body needs to function properly, and I highly recommend drinking a fruit smoothie to do so! This smoothie is healthy and provides you with the vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants you need. Plus, it’s very low in fat.

However, you may want to be careful with how many fruit smoothies you have per week. While mostly natural sugars, they are high in carbs. Our low-carb readers may want to keep this in mind.

Can any yogurt be used for fruit smoothies?

To achieve that perfect creamy texture, you can really use any yogurt you desire for a fruit smoothie. I do recommend using Greek yogurt, however, as it provides many health benefits and a nice tangy flavor profile. Greek yogurt can contain twice as much protein and is generally lower in sugar and carbs than regular yogurt. Therefore, if you’re asking me, Greek yogurt is the superior choice for many delicious meals, including fruit smoothies. Of course, if you’re vegan or lactose intolerant, feel free to replace it with a plant-based yogurt.

How to Make Ahead and Store

Dirtying the blender can be a hassle, and I definitely don’t want to clean it more than I have to! That’s why I strongly recommend making more fruit smoothies than you need and enjoying the rest as leftovers or sharing with friends and family. If stored in an airtight container in the fridge, your smoothie will last up to 24 hours (perfect for two lunches or desserts). If stored in a freezer-safe, airtight container in the freezer, your smoothie will stay fresh for up to 2 months.

Serving Suggestions

Whether you’re packing a lunch for a kiddo or yourself, including a smoothie is a fun way to enjoy fruit with your meal. Therefore, I would say it makes a great side to most meals! But if you’re looking for specific recommendations, I have plenty.

For breakfast, why not pair your fruit smoothie with a steaming stack of Blueberry Waffles or enjoy as a refreshing way to cut the flavors of Chorizo And Eggs? For lunch, a half portion of a fruit smoothie would be fun next to a Grilled Mango Chicken Wrap or even a Mexican Sweet Potato Noodle Wrap. And if your kids (or you!) did not have enough fruits during the day, then enjoying a fruit smoothie as your dinner drink would be great, whether your dinner is a healthy serving of Homemade Hamburger Helper, Bibimbap, or Coconut Curry Soup.
